  black crows, blues traveler, spin doctors ve lenny kravitz öncüleri sayılabilir, aşağı yukarı yer alan isimlerden fark edildiği üzere radyo dostu amerikan rock müziği olarak ta tanımlayabiliriz aslında bu müziği; öyleki billboard dergisi de bu janra sahip çıkıp haftalık billboard modern rock listesi yayınlamaktadır.
